European Maritime Day

During the European Maritime Day taking place in Cork from 21 to 23 May, a workshop has been organised by Gesine Meissner, the coordinator of the European Maritime Space, and the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO), on the role of ports for the development of short sea shipping and green energies.

BrestPort has been invited to take part to the workshop to present its visions and the projects engaged. It was a good opportunity to present HYDEA which considers the ports of the Atlantic area as key actors for the development of hydrogen use cases and for the import, production, distribution of hydrogen.

The presentation induced fruitful discussions with the organisers and the participants on the opportunity for ports to position themselves as new energy and transport hubs, but also on the challenge that represents the fast European energy transition goals.

Ports, shipping and energy industries must work together to move in the same direction and at the same speed. The European Maritime Space program aims at facilitating synergies between the stakeholders and favour the development of green corridors.
